Pokemon Let's Go Shiny Odds

Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee made shiny hunting visible: shinies wander the overworld before you ever throw a ball, and a catch combo of 31 or more turns the surrounding routes into a much friendlier slot machine. Stack the combo, a Lure and the Shiny Charm and the rate bottoms out at 1 in 273. The numbers below follow the same datamine the trackers use, and the calculator stays on Let's Go alone.

Locked to Let's Go. Pick your catch combo tier and switch on the Lure and the Shiny Charm if you have them — the card shows the rate that every spawn in the area is rolling, plus an average hunt length. Keep the combo alive: one catch of another species, or letting your chained target flee, resets it.

Base rate 1 in 4,096. The combo tiers add 3, 7 or 11 rolls; the Shiny Charm adds two more and a Lure adds one. Everything switched on reaches 15 rolls — 1 in 273.

Pokemon Let's Go Shiny Odds: The Full Combo Table

Everything in these games runs through one mechanic: consecutive catches of a single species. The combo raises the shiny odds of the spawns around you, and the Lure and Shiny Charm each add a little more. Four tiers cover every hunt you can plan.

Read the roll counts back as fractions: 12 rolls is 1 in 341, 14 is 1 in 293, and the full 15 reaches 1 in 273. The chain itself must be one species, but the boosted rate applies to every spawn you can see — not only the species you are chaining.

Mechanics

How the Let's Go Shiny Odds Actually Work

One mechanic, three tiers and two small items. Here is what each piece of the stack does, and how hunting in these games really plays.

The catch combo, and why 31 is the number

Every catch of the same species in a row extends your combo, and the tiers step up hard: 11 catches adds three shiny rolls, 21 adds seven, and from 31 catches onward the game adds eleven to every spawn. Only catching breaks the chain — walking away from a stray spawn is free, but catching a different species, or letting your target flee, resets the count. The combo does quieter work too: at 31 it guarantees at least four perfect IVs on catches, which is why competitive players still bother chaining in these games.

Lures and the Shiny Charm

A Lure adds one shiny roll and works for a few hundred steps — re-apply before it expires and the roll never drops off. The Shiny Charm adds two rolls and is earned by completing the Kanto Pokedex; Mew, who arrives with the Poké Ball Plus accessory rather than in a patch of grass, is the one entry the game does not ask for. The two items are independent of each other and of the combo, and a fully stacked 31+ chain with both running reaches fifteen rolls — the 1 in 273 floor.

Overworld hunting and reset hunts

Shinies in Let's Go appear physically in the world, flashing as they wander, so most of the hunt is scanning crowds rather than opening encounters. When a route feels stale, stepping into a building and back out forces a fresh set of spawns without touching your combo. The legendary birds and Mewtwo are a different craft: they sit in fixed dens that the combo cannot reach, and the only tool is saving in front of them and resetting. At 1 in 4,096 that is a long evening, but there is no faster door.

Rarity

Shiny-Locked Pokemon in Let's Go

One lock, and one dead zone. Your partner Pikachu or Eevee can never be shiny — that is the only Pokemon shut out of shiny hunting entirely. Gift Pokemon and the in-game trades, Alolan forms included, are a different case: their odds never leave the plain 1 in 4,096, because no combo, Lure or charm reaches them. Wild spawns get the full ladder, and the legendary birds and Mewtwo shine for anyone patient enough to reset.

In practice

How Long Does a Kanto Combo Hunt Take?

The combo tiers are where the real time savings sit, and the table below shows how far the ladder moves at each step. Each row pairs a headline Let's Go rate with its median hunt and the 99% mark.

Your shiny oddsMedian hunt (50%)99% of hunters by
1 in 4,096 (no combo)2,839 encounters18,861 encounters
1 in 1,024 (combo 11-20 with Lure and Charm)710 encounters4,714 encounters
1 in 512 (combo 21-30)355 encounters2,356 encounters
1 in 341 (combo 31+)237 encounters1,570 encounters
1 in 273 (combo 31+ with Lure and Charm)189 encounters1,256 encounters

Pushing a chain from 21 catches to 31 nearly halves the expected wait, which is why the last ten catches are the ones worth protecting. The combo counter lives in the corner of the screen — the game will not remind you twice.

FAQ

Pokemon Let's Go Shiny Odds FAQ

What are the shiny odds in Pokemon Let's Go?

A bare spawn with nothing running is 1 in 4,096. From there the ladder moves fast: a 31+ catch combo makes it 1 in 341, the Shiny Charm takes that to 1 in 293, and adding a Lure reaches 1 in 273 — the best rate either game offers.

What are the shiny odds for Pikachu in Let's Go?

The same as for any other species in the wild: chain Pikachu catches to 31 or more, keep a Lure and the charm active, and every spawn in the area rolls the boosted rate. The partner Pikachu you are given at the start is the exception — it can never be shiny.

Does the catch combo have to be the same species?

The chain itself must be one species, but the reward is broad: it raises the shiny rate for every spawn around you, not only the one you are chaining. A Pidgey chain genuinely improves the odds of the Charmander you actually want.

How do you get the Shiny Charm in Let's Go?

Complete the Kanto Pokedex — every entry except Mew, who comes from the Poké Ball Plus accessory. Turn it in on the third floor of the Celadon condominiums once the dex is full, and it stays with your save from then on.

Do Lures and the Shiny Charm stack with the combo?

They do. Combo tiers add 3, 7 or 11 rolls, the charm adds two and a Lure adds one, which is how a 31+ chain reaches fifteen rolls and the 1 in 273 floor. The items only need to be active; only the combo needs maintenance.

Are the legendary birds and Mewtwo shiny huntable?

Yes. Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and Mewtwo can all be shiny, and the standard approach is saving in front of the encounter and resetting until one sparkles. The combo system does not reach them, so each is a straight 1 in 4,096 reset grind.

Targets and squads

Once the shiny is caught, the Pokemon Team Picker slots it into a six-Pokemon squad, and the Random Pokemon Picker rolls a random partner for the next hunt. Want the shiny without the chain? The generator above delivers.
